Hi Everyone,
It seems that many are waiting to hear how my appointment with Dr. Asa Andrew went yesterday. Here is a quick recap:
My appointment was for 1pm. As suggested by the front staff, I got there by 12:30 to fill out paperwork. There was A LOT of paperwork and I finished it up by 1:05pm. I got a glimpse of Dr. Asa and my first impression was that he looked tired. At around 1:30pm they took me back to a room where the nurse did some sort of PH test with a strip on the tongue, checked my blood pressure and admnistered a range of motion test. We waited for the dr. and he finally came in at 2:15pm. Thankfully my husband was with me so the long wait time actually gave us time alone to talk without the kids around. I am glad some of you had warned me this might happen. It was annoying, but at least I was not completely surprised by it. Next time I will bring a good book with me and enjoy the peace and quiet.
When Dr. Asa came in, he introduced himself to us and then asked what he could do to help. He was a great listener. I had a lot of questions(my husband had a list of them) and we covered most of them. Asa also administered some tests. He shined a light in my eyes, had me focus on an object while coming closer and then pulling away, etc. He had a chiropractor's table and had me lie facing down on it. He then manipulated my back, but very gently...like fingertouches all the way up my back. My back was hurting prior to this. By evening, my back felt great and still does this morning. I have trouble with my left knee so he checked that out and my hips. This makes sense to me since my mother has the same issues with her knees and they always check the alignment of her hips. He also checked my reflexes in my knees, which I don't think were too good. He gave me some hope in that he feels that high blood sugar issues can be resolved naturally. He is treating a lot of diabetics.
I was then taken for xrays. It was a very modern device where your images popped up almost immediately. Today I am going over those xrays with someone and then getting my bloodwork done at a local hospital.
In two weeks, I am going back to meet with Dr. Asa. They gave me more paperwork to fill out...a patient symptom survey, a 3 day food diary, an axillary temperature test, and a temperament test that I need to complete before I see him next. I will also start the foot detox bath. I will write more when I come back from that appointment.
As it was time for me to leave and pay for services, (I'm paying for all of this cash) I asked the receptionist if she had a payment schedule so I could better budget all of this. She told me what it was so I wrote it all down. It wasn't much to write. From the advice of a friend, I asked what to expect at the next visit and she was very forthright. However, you DO have to ask and be very proactive in there. I have calculated that so far, the cost of his services are roughly half of what Mercola's were.
I hope this information is helpful to some of you. I will keep you posted as I can. We are putting our house on the market today and we think we have found the next house we want to purchase. Things are going to get really crazy around here. But hey, what else is new? That seems to be my life lately. :)
