Asa Andrew visit ~ Blood work results and my eyes

Hi again,

It's been a wild couple of weeks for us dealing with Mark's dad in the hospital, trying to sell our house, visitig the optometrist, and going to see Dr. Asa. I'll start with my visit to Dr. Asa.

The good news is that my blood work came back and for the most part, it looks great! One of the biggest things I noticed was that my A1C has dropped from 11.6 to a 6.9! WooHoo! It's still a little high but I'm celebrating this small victory. All of my organs are testing very well and my thyroid problem from before has normalized as well. The blood sugar is still too high, my bilirubin levels are slightly elevated, and my vitamin D level is low(not enough sun exposure this summer!) I'm still following "the diet" and taking the recommended supplements. In general, I am feeling terrific. I"m going to keep doing what I'm doing. Dr. Asa added folic acid, a B12 and vit D supplement to my regimen.

Another good thing to report is that it seems Dr. Asa has an "office manager" directing things differently. I was in and out of there much quicker(in an hour) and everything seemed to be running more efficiently. I know some of you have been aggravated with the long wait times so hopefully you will have a more positive experience the next time you visit.

Now about my eyes...I went to the optometrist yesterday and my eyes are actually getting better! The optometrist was very surprised and double checked his notes from my prior visit over 2 years ago. He checked the pressure, the retina and some other things and said that they look really healthy. The most exciting thing is that I'm only slightly far-sighted and I don't need as strong as prescription as I did before. You gotta love that!

So there's all the good news. Mark's dad is out of the hospital which we are not sure if that is good news or bad at this time. We both feel he needs 24 hour care, but he lives across the country from us and is making his own decisions. The buyers of our house backed out this morning so we are back to square one on that. Such is life. There always seems to be two tracks...one good, one not so good, going at the same time. I can deal with it with God's help. I just keep looking to Him through it all, knowing He has something planned that is good for me and my family.

Until next time, eat healthy and stay well!

Debbie

That is good news that you are doing well!
Im still trying to save up some money to go see Dr. Asa. I have been having eye issues and I know Im deficient in something... just cant pin point it.

Are you talking about a lady named Debbie at his office? I have emailed her a few times to get my order and ask a few questions and she seemed helpful.

Shannon, I'm not a dr. but I have read that lutein is very good for the eyes. I used to take a bilberry with lutein supplement. Maybe something like that would help.

Hi Shannon,
Congradulations on your COMPLETE healing. I to am on a journey to recover my total health so it is great to see someone who has taken responsibility for her health and achieved her goals. As for the eyes, I have also read that high quality fish oil is great for the eyes and the whole body. Make sure you get the TG (natural triglyceride form)form so you get it in its natural state. Again CONGRADULATIONS!!
