Visit # 6 with Dr. Asa Andrew after seeing Dr. Brad

Hi Everyone,
Well, here is my 3rd attempt to post this. Yep, you read that correctly. I'm retyping this for the 3rd TIME! ARGH! And yes, I tried to save it both times prior and it didn't save, but deleted instead. I have never had this happen before so I'm going to save every few sentences this time. Ok, enough ranting about my computer woes. Let's try this again...

Overall, my visit to Dr. Asa Andrew went very well. There was a long wait since
another patient had a medical emergency, which pushed the rest of us back. Once I saw Dr. Asa, he was very thorough in answering all of my questions. My husband and I both had copies of questions and I gave one to Dr. Asa as well. He seemed to like that and took his time answering each one.

My first concern was my prior visit to Dr. Brad and all of the tests he recommended. Dr. Asa was in agreement with us that we should wait to do any further testing until we get my blood test results. He would also consult with Dr. Brad at that time to see how medically necessary these tests are. He also stated that he would see if an ultrasound would suffice instead of a CAT scan. And that was only if Dr. Brad still thought it was necessary after the bloodwork results were in.

So for all of you who had concerns about Dr. Brad, I would definitely run your thoughts by Dr. Asa to get his opinion before you do anything. The front office was very hot to trot to order the CAT scan last week and I put the brakes on that really fast. Just remember that YOU are ultimately in control.

I also voiced my concern that I felt Dr. Brad didn't have a clue on why I was at the
clinic in the first place. Dr. Asa said that Dr. Brad does look over the charts, but that he likes to hear from the patient what ails him/her and starts diagnosing from that. I don't necessarily agree with this method, but that's how Dr. Brad operates.

In my personal opinion, Dr. Asa has Dr. Brad working with him so he can combine a nontraditional and traditional philosophy of medicine. Dr. Brad is very new to the clinic and the "bugs" are still being worked out. If they can pull it off, I feel they could make a great team. How many of us have wished that the dr.'s, chiropractors, naturopaths, etc. would all work together? I know I have. And my guess is that this is what they are trying to accomplish for the ultimate care of each patient.

I also asked Dr. Asa how long I needed to take all of the supplements. The answer was that after my body balances back out, I would be weaned from them. They are not
something I would take forever. That was a relief.

Dr. Asa then did some spinal manipulations and muscle testing on me. He massaged a
muscle in my abdominal area, which wasn't as bad as the liver massage, but still a bit uncomfortable. I'm very ticklish so anything like that is close to torture for me. He also prescribed a chelation capsule to help me detox from heavy metals. I will take this for 2 months and then be off of it.

As far as the cost goes. Yes, it is expensive, but I have noticed most of the expense is coming from the supplements. Again, this is my choice on whether to take these or not. I know from past experience that any quality supplement is going to be pricey. Dr. Asa's seem no more pricey than others I have taken in the past. As Dr. Asa states in his book, "Your health is your greatest wealth." I have felt so terrible the past several years that the cost of all of this is nothing compared to how much better I am feeling already. It's a stretch for us since we pay all of this out of pocket. If it starts getting too expensive for us, then it will be time for a 2nd job, contract work or to sell some stuff. It's that important to us and so far, it's been worth every dime. I want to be around for my kids, grandkids and great grandkids if possible. I can't put a price tag on that.

Overall, I feel I am getting very good, personalized care from Dr. Asa and his staff. I am feeling better than I have in months. No, they are not perfect and I feel the clinic is experiencing some growing pains. Just remember that YOU are ultimately in control. YOU decide if you are going to follow the recommended diet. YOU decide if you are going to buy/ and or take the supplements. YOU decide whether you are going to have certain tests performed. YOU decide whether you are going to do a foot detox when you go in. YOU decide how many times you are going to the clinic each month. The dr.'s will make recommendations, but it is ultimately YOUR choice on how YOU decide to follow through with those recommendations. This isn't school where you are taught to blindly follow the teacher. This is your life so my suggestion is to ask, ask, ask until you get the answers you need to make good decisions regarding YOUR health. And if you are going to a dr. that is not willing to answer your questions, then I would switch. Dr. Asa and his staff have always been willing to answer my questions.

At my next visit, I'm getting a lymphatic massage and I'm seeing Dr. Asa. I'll post
again after that visit. Things are settling down a bit here and the month of July is a calm one for us. We need it. We may take a short vacation just to get away for a while. Have a wonderful 4th of July and stay safe!

Debbie
