Hi Everyone,
I do apologize for waiting so long to post again, but I wanted to do a bit of research.
First, I've had a few people comment about Dr. Asa Andrew's credentials or rather, lack of them so let me address this. Dr. Asa is a doctor of chiropractic (D.C.), naturopathic physician (N.D.) and has a doctorate in nutrition. He is in the process of getting his M.D. and is on target to take his boards around Jan 2010.
I have been to Dr. Asa's office many, many times and he treats me 90% of the time. The other 10% I'm seen by Dr. Karen who is very competent as well.
I know there is another blog out there saying some pretty negative things about Dr. Andrew. Some have said he is out to just make a buck. Well, after going to his clinic for over 6 months I would say I heartily disagree. Yes he is expensive and, in my last post, I mentioned I had concerns about my own finances. Since that post, my husband & I have discussed those concerns with Dr. Asa personally. He spent a good half hour, if not longer, listening to those concerns. We worked out a solution agreeable to all parties within the last few weeks. If he was just out to make a buck, I don't think he would have spent the time with us or would have offered such a workable option for us.
Dr. Asa is an extremely busy man. Not only is he doing his radio show 5 times/week, working on getting his M.D., but there are speaking engagements and patients to attend to as well. Even with all that, he still took the time last week, after I had seen Dr. Karen, to ask me if I had a few minutes to talk. He asked me how I was doing and so I bluntly told him. If you have been reading this blog, then you know I have been frustrated with my progress. And he listened. He took 20-30 minutes with me and I didn't even have an appointment with him! Someone who doesn't care about their patients would not have taken the time.
I have also found the rest of his staff to be helpful. Vanessa, the nutritionist, is extremely knowledgeable and a sweetheart to boot. The massage therapist is also very good. The front office is running a whole lot smoother than it used to so I'm not having any problems there either. I feel like an individual who is getting personal care, not a number being run through the mill. Overall, I feel I am being treated well and that Dr. Andrew and his staff are doing what they can to help me get well.
I hope this post clears a few things up. Thanks for reading. I will do my best to post more frequently as I deliberately slow down my lifestyle to ease the stress. In my next post, I will be more specific about my current treatment plan. Have a great week!

Hi Debbie,
I am a new patient of Dr.Asa's and have had two visits so far. I am a nurse and was trained in conventional medicine. Before and during my first visit I was skeptical, but wanted to keep an open mind. The entire staff was very pleasant and made me feel very comfortable. I will be starting the Anti-Inflammatory diet in a few days which will be a big change for me. I felt comforted by your comments and look forward to reading about your journey. Best of Luck to you :)
