Hello everyone!
It's hard to believe that my last entry was after the Haiti earthquake. We have had major flooding in our area since, but thankfully we were not victims of it. However, some good friends were and we have been busy helping them clean up and get their business back on its feet. We have also finished our Taekwondo tournaments for the year and I now live in a house full of state champs. I feel well protected!
I've had a lot of changes happen medically since my last post. I figured out that mowing my lawn was the culprit for my foot/achilles issue that was keeping me from exercising like I wanted to. We have a sloped front yard and the angle is such that it puts too much strain on my achilles when I'm pushing the mower uphill. I told my husband he now has a new job. ;) And just so you don't think he's a slouch, he has been offering to mow, but I told him I wanted to do it for more exercise.
I have been seeing a regular M.D. since January and a different chiropractor since November 2009. In 3 months, my neck moved 3 degrees and the curves in my back started to straighten. It's not a lot, but I'll take it. In a few weeks, I'll go in for my 6 month review and I'll see if there has been any more movement. I sure hope so...I have more mobility and I don't have nearly the pain I used to have. On a side note, my kids necks/backs have improved dramatically. You can physically see the difference in my daughter's posture and the positioning of my son's shoulders.
With the medical dr. I finally gave in and asked to be put on insulin and forego the Metformin. I know that might be a shock to many of you who have read this blog, but I decided to do it so I could think more clearly. Anyone with Diabetes knows that it's hard to do that when your blood sugar is on a roller coaster. I started out with pens and just went to an insulin pump for better control. I am taking very little insulin, but I feel better than I have in YEARS. I just had another A1C test and should get the results soon. I still have a small ray of hope that one day I might not need the insulin since I'm taking so little. I want to lose some more weight now that I'm exercising again and I'm hoping that will make a huge difference. I also had them do a preliminary test for Celiac's Disease...more on that later.
Overall, I'm doing much better. I feel like I'm a better wife & mother, my emotions are steadying out as my blood sugar normalizes, I can think clearly and I'm enjoying my life as best as I can. Speaking of that, my sweet husband is waiting patiently for me to finish up here so I can watch a movie with him. I'll end with a quote I found in a book I was reading to my kids. I have it on an index card for us all to memorize. Have a great weekend!
"If we could remember at the right moment that the unkind word, the quiet ignoring of suffering, the contemptuous look, may be inflicted on Him, perhaps we should be more cautious."

P.S. I have 16 messages I need to read and respond to and I will get to them as soon as I can. Thank you all for taking the time to comment. If you have put your phone # and/or email in your comment, I will not post your comment to protect your privacy unless I have your permission to do so. As for Dr. Asa, he or his moderator have deleted two of my posts asking him for the SOURCE of the information from his latest Facebook entry. Interesting considering some of the comments I've received from many of you.
