Hi Everyone,
I forgot to mention this in my last post. If you have been following this, then you all know I took Metformin for about a week. Now I do realize that Dr. Morgan said I wouldn't see any effects from this drug for about 3 months. However, after only the one week, my liver was so congested that they lasered it at The Center for Natural Medicine. There was no change in my blood sugar readings. My biggest concern with this drug is the long term effects on my liver. Currently my liver is fine. I only have one and I don't want to mess with it! Anyway, I'm off of the Metformin for now.

The Effects of Yeast
Hi Everyone,
Taking Dr. Morgan's advice, I've been reading The Yeast Connection by Dr. William Crook. Yeast has fascinated me for a while b/c when I first went to The Center for Natural Medicine, they did an x-ray and it showed yeast throughout my body. I'm wondering if I still have as much, or if through the diet and supplements, most of it is gone. I think I'm going to ask Dr. Asa Andrew about it when I see him next week. I bought some Caprylic Acid supplements today to see if that would help get rid of it in case it's still there.
One story in the book told of a woman who had similar symptoms to what mine were last year, even down to the blood sugar issues.
Here's a short list of some symptoms that may be due to a yeast infection (candida albicans):
extreme fatigue or lethargy
depression
inability to concentrate
headaches
skin problems such as hives, athlete's foot, fungous infection of the nails, jock
itch, psoriasis or other chronic skin rashes
Gastrointestinal symptoms (especially constipation, abdominal pain, diarrhea, gas or bloating)
Symptoms involving the reproductive organs (PMS, irregular cycles, sexual dysfunction)
Muscular and nervous system symptoms(aching/swelling in muscles and joints, numbness, burning or tingling, muscle wakenss or paralysis)
Respiratory symptoms
Hyperactivity and recurrent ear problems
Anyway, it's a great book to read and I highly recommend it. My last visit to The Center for Natural Medicine was with Dr. Karen Naymik. I really like her and I'm glad she is part of their team. She put my sacrum/lower back back together since it was all out of whack. I have to stop Jazzercise until next week so I've been bummed about that. I went swimming with the kids today instead and that didn't seem to cause a flare up.
Checkout was 30 min instead of 45 so they are slowly improving, although a 30 min wait to check out is still pretty ridiculous. I hope they hire some good help soon. Attitudes were much calmer this time around as well.

Twitter!
Hey everyone,
I decided to bite the bullet and give Twitter a try. I'll still post here, but I thought I'd try out some different technology. Look up debbiekmorrison. I don't have a picture up yet but will get one up there as soon as I learn how to do it from my new camera. :)

Dr. Joe Morgan, Metformin, and Xango
Hi everyone,
Lots of things have been happening...
First, I saw Dr. Joe Morgan at The Center for Natural Medicine. He is a D.O. and, in a nutshell, suggested I go on Metformin since my blood glucose has been higher lately. Well, you all know how I feel about that but I decided to try it anyway. It is supposed to take up to 3 months to see any effects. He is also trying to find an Endocrinologist that will work with Natural Medicine. I suspect this may take a while.
In the meantime I have started to go to Jazzercise again and, surprise, surprise, my blood glucose started to drop a little. Exercise seems to be my best "medicine" at this point. The only problem is that my lower back/hips keep going out giving me excruciating pain. I'm going to ask Dr. Karen today if she has any exercises I can do that will help strengthen that area.
Back to the Metformin...I quit taking it two days ago. For some reason it doesn't feel right in my spirit to take it, especially when I'm not seeing any results. I'm really spooked about what it will do to my liver long term. I have one more thing I'm going to try before I give in to traditional meds.
A coworker of my husband's was diabetic and started taking Xango. I had never heard of this before but she claims she was able to go off all of her diabetic medicine as well as meds for her thyroid and depression after 3 months of drinking Xango. I jumped on the internet and read the good, the bad and the ugly about Xango. Whatever the different websites say, all I know is that it worked for her. She isn't someone who is advertising on the internet. This is someone we know personally. It worked for her; maybe it will work for me. Yesterday my blood glucose was down 40 "points" on my glucometer. I've also noticed that my skin is looking great. Hmmmm...I'll keep drinking it. I'm going to take some into Dr. Karen Naymik at the Center for Natural Medicine today and have her test me on it. Her conclusion will be interesting.
Last I need to say some things about The Center for Natural Medicine. The front office reception has been a mess the month of May. They lost their two receptionists w/in about 3 weeks of each other. It took me 45 minutes to check out two out of the three times I was there. The gal took about 20 phone calls while I was trying to check out not to mention the fact that she was stressed and borderline rude to me. Personally, I'm getting sick of her attitude and she needs to go back to the dept she normally works in.
I suggested to a couple of different people that they need someone to sit in a room and just take phone calls, answer questions, set appointments, etc. so the front office can take care of their patients appropriately. I was told that a new leadership team has been hired and to give it 3 months and things should be running more smoothly. Let's hope so.
Last week, check out did go a lot quicker. I'll report back and let you all know how it goes today. I feel the care I am getting there is exceptional and it would be a real shame if they don't get their act together in the front office. I think they are probably losing a lot of patients due to this. So, keeping my fingers crossed all goes smoothly in there today. I'll report back here, hopefully today, on how it goes.
Until then, have a great week and remember to smile today. God has given you another day. :)

Back from vacation
Hi everyone,
I am back from my mini vacation and happy to report we all had a wonderful time. It rained every day we were there, but we didn't let that stop us. It was a much needed break for the whole family.
During our trip, my kids decided to have a pillow fight(I think this is tradition whenever we go on vacation to have a pillow fight with Dad). Somehow my two youngest managed to smash into each other and my son really tweaked his neck. Thankfully we saw Dr. Asa Andrew today and my son can now move his neck w/out any pain. We hiked to the base's of many waterfalls and I slipped many times on the wet rocks, causing my lower back/hips to go out. I had shooting pains going down my legs last night, but now I am a lot better. I'm still a bit sore, but I think that will pass as the muscles relax. My husband drew me an Epsom salts bath last night, which really helped. I can't remember the last time he did that for me, if ever. I appreciated that a lot and I certainly made sure I told him I did.
I've been thinking a lot about the diabetes issue with myself and allergies. My lab reports are indicating my allergy indices are off the chart. I'm wondering if there is a correlation. Allergies can cause inflammation. What if my Islet Cells are inflamed due to an allergic reaction and what would happen if I could get rid of the allergy and thus the inflammation? I'll start doing more research on this. If any of you have any ideas on this, please send me a comment.
I do know that at the University of Toronto that a research scientist has injected casein into or near the Islet Cells of diabetic mice. In doing this, the mice are almost instanstly cured for the next 2-3 months before they need another injection. They are in the midst of human trials as I type this. Too bad I don't live in Canada! Although rumor says about 8000 people are on a waiting list. Oh well. I'll do what I can with what the Lord provides.
In all of this, do not forget that the Lord is our ultimate healer. It's really all up to Him and His will for our lives. So, I do what I can do and keep praying for discernment and direction.
Tomorrow I see my allergist. Maybe they can shed some light on a few things. Until next time, have a great week!

Cinnamon vs Metformin
Hi Everyone,
I forgot to mention in my last post that Dr. Asa muscle tested me on cinnamon and Metformin. Interestingly enough, they both seemed to strengthen my body EQUALLY. So, that is pretty exciting news that I can possibly take cinnamon instead of Metformin, which can harm my liver.
Yesterday I saw Dr. Karen and mentioned that I was getting some lower abdominal pain. I was wondering if the cinnamon was doing this (and hoping it wasn't for obvious reasons!). She checked a couple of different things and discovered I had a problem between my intestines. I wish I knew the medical terms to describe what she did to fix it. Nonetheless, I'll do my best. She had me take two fingers and push down and to an angle near the spot where I was getting some pain. Then she rubbed a spot on my foot, which was sore(a little reflexology perhaps?) and then she rubbed a spot on my upper calf. Wow, did that spot really hurt! Then she rubbed a different spot near my shoulder. I haven't had any pain since. Whatever she did, it seems to have worked. It's amazing to me how truly interconnected the human body is. Now let's see if mine will fully heal itself! Still praying, trusting in God with my future, and hoping for the best, even though it's been a struggle lately.
Have a great week!

Cinnamon and Anonymous Comments
Hi Everyone,
First I hope you all had a Happy Easter weekend! We celebrated my birthday late with friends and family on Saturday night. Adults and kids had a lot of fun with plenty of good food and cheesecake. I LOVE cheesecake but managed to stay away from it. I'm still patting myself on the back for that one!
Unfortunately we have been dealing with flu like symptoms ever since! With that said, I'm keeping this post brief so I can get a good night's rest before the start of my little vacation tomorrow. I am so excited to be going with a great group of gals to a wonderful convention. Four days of peace and quiet if I want it. Yessss!
One thing I will address tonight is Anonymous comments. I LOVE getting comments on this blog and I will post them as long as they are NOT Anonymous. If you have a gripe about me, this blog, any of the dr.'s, books, articles, links, etc. mentioned on this blog, then be willing to put your name and credentials in your comments. And if you are just plain nasty, sarcastic, and rude, then I won't post it. This blog is to inform people of my journey back to health. There are other places you can go if you feel the need to vent.
I also have not posted some comments that contain personal email addresses and phone numbers. This is for your privacy and protection.
Okay, enough said on all of that. I had strained my neck/upper back muscles exercising with a resistance band(I won't even try to explain how!) and, at my last couple of visits with Dr. Asa Andrew, he gave me a chiropractic treatment on my neck, back & hips and I'm almost as good as new. We have discussed cinnamon and I started using it. I am currently taking it after each meal and right before I go to bed. It has dropped me by over 100 "points" on my glucometer but then my glucose reading went up again after some stress. So, when my stress level is low, my glucose readings are A LOT lower, but when my stress level is high, my glucose readings really go up. Obviously stress is a major factor in all of this for me. I walked into Dr. Asa's office a couple of weeks ago and said, "I think I need a vacation!"...and he wholeheartedly agreed. With that said,
I'm off to catch some Zzzz's before my trip. I'll let you all know what my glucose readings do while I try to relax. :)
Have a great week!
