Hi Everyone,
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. It was nice for my hubby to get a few days off so we could all relax and enjoy ourselves as a family.
Now for the blood work results. These are just the preliminaries and I should get the full results in a couple of weeks. Here is what I know or at least what I can figure out. I have not discussed this in depth with Dr. Asa Andrew yet.
A lot of things look good, but I still have some major issues going on. I'm going to skip the good stuff in this post and get right to what needs to be worked on.
My A1C is elevated to 8.1, up from a 6.2. I personally feel some of this elevation is due to the stress of moving and the holidays. I have to admit that I was not perfect in the eating plan, although I only "fell off the wagon" a few times. I didn't feel at the time that it was enough to affect the A1C like this, but apparently it was. It's very frustrating not being able to relax when it comes to eating. I have to admit that I am worn out after trying to figure out meals that I can eat and that my family will eat as well for the past two years.
My bilirubin total was also up slightly than normal. This showed up over a year ago with Dr. Mercola so this isn't a surprise. They were calling it Gilbert's Syndrome, which is an inherited disorder.
My SED rate was 29. It should be < or = 20. Sed rate, or erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), is a blood test that can reveal inflammatory activity in your body.
My Cardio CRP was also high indicating I am a high cardiovascular risk according to AHA/CDC guidelines.
As for the thyroid issues, my T3 total was low at a 92. The range is 97-219 so I'm almost there. The good news is that my T3 uptake, T4 and Free T4 Index were all in the normal range.
My Rheumatoid Factor was tested and came out very high at 42. Normal is less than 14. This is obviously very abnormal and could indicate many things including Sjögren’s syndrome. You can Google any of these conditions and glean more information than I'm presenting here.
Lastly my Immunoglobulin E test came back at 1520. A normal result is at or below 114 so this is extremely abnormal. I Googled this and there can be many causes including an allergic reaction to something.
Obviously I'm still a mess. I am noticing many indicators of inflammation within my body with the Immunoglobulin E, Rheumatoid Factor, and SED rate. Dr. Asa recommended I see Dr. Joe Ozenne. They are faxing over my lab results now and I will see him next week and go from there. It will be interesting to see what he thinks I should do next. I am also scheduled to see Dr. Asa next week so it will be interesting to see what he says about all of this as well.
I'll post again after seeing the two dr.'s. Until then, have a great week everyone!
Debbie
